We live in a time when change is constant. People change locations, diet plans, jobs. I have therefore stayed in my job for a relatively long time. The reason? The people! I am lucky to work with some incredibly talented, inspirational people including some pretty fabulous women. I have met a lot of my favourite people in the world there, including this lovely lot that constantly elevate my working day and keep me sane(ish)!

We regularly celebrate our splendid ways! And fortunately they are fellow lovers of celebrating with food and wine! (I don’t make friends with people who do not love food…) Our most recent escapade took us to Root, the most recent venture from Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, hanging out in Cargo 1 of Wapping Wharf. Previously chicken shed, they made a bold and exciting move to focus the menu around vegetables, with meat and fish becoming the side dishes. The menu reflects the company’s ethos of sustainability and seeks to highlight the health and environmental of reducing meat in our diet (something I have been attempting to do myself recently).
The menu is vast and exciting. Small plates designed to share (my favourite!) With a veggie in the group, we kept to mainly vegetarian options, but could not quite resist the pork belly and squid! We ordered the majority of the menu, and food was soon taking over every spare inch of the table. Food choices change on a regular basis, but here are some of the highlights from our night!

To top it off, they have a beautiful wine list, incorporating natural and biodynamic wine.
Wapping Wharf keeps on adding to Bristol’s exciting food scene. Root went straight to the top of my favourites too. Every dish was vibrant and full of flavour, the wine was beautiful and great value. Massively recommended. It’s popular too – so make sure you book if you don’t want to miss out!
